Wasting food feeds climate change. If food waste was a country, it would be the third biggest emitter of greenhouse emissions on the planet. An estimated 1.3 billion tonnes of food are discarded each year around the world, which is approximately 1/3 of food produced to be consumed. Meanwhile, there are many people who have difficulties accessing food, leading to 1 in 9 people being malnourished.

Monday, the 1st of March, marks the UK’s first-ever Food Waste Action Week. This is an entire week dedicated to raising awareness for the environmental impact of food waste and inspiring behaviours to leave it in the past.

ODD BOX is your go-to grocer. If you’re looking for a produce box that benefits you as well as the planet, it can be delivered weekly to your doorstep. Founders Deepak and Emilie are committed to finding loving homes for surplus and ‘wonky’ fruit and veg, challenging the absurd uniformity guidelines that prohibit delicious and nutritious food from making it to our supermarket shelves.

By rescuing fresh produce, you are ensuring that the energy and resources that went into growing them do not go to waste. This effectively saves water and prevents carbon emissions.

An added bonus is that you can wave goodbye to the frustratingly pointless plastic that you would inevitably end up bringing home from a shop at your local supermarket. ODD BOX is committed to using recyclable packaging wherever possible.
